Thank you for standing with us as we continue transforming and preserving one of Texas’ most cherished sites. The Alamo Plan is moving ahead across several projects, and we’re glad to bring you the latest updates.
Alamo Area Construction News - November 14
Alamo Cenotaph: Promise Kept To Preserve In Place

The Alamo proudly held a rededication ceremony on Tuesday marking the successful preservation of the Alamo Cenotaph. The event also marked the 85th anniversary of the Cenotaph's original dedication in 1940, which also took place on Veterans Day.
The Cenotaph will soon be complemented by landscaping and lighting, allowing it to be admired both day and night.
Holiday Cheer: Flagpole Converting Into Tree Of Lights

Work begins next week to convert the newly-installed flagpole at Plaza de Valero into a holiday tree of lights. Crews will rope off impacted areas and the Alamo does not expect nearby businesses to be affected.
We will illuminate both the Plaza de Valero tree of lights and our annual Christmas tree on Alamo Plaza over the Thanksgiving holiday week.
Future Alamo Plan Progress
- The Alamo Promenade featuring statues honoring key historical figures and shaded seating areas is now open! The Alamo will host an official ribbon cutting next Friday, November 21.
- The Texas Cavaliers Education Center will open on March 6, 2026 - the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo.
- The Paseo del Alamo connecting the Alamo with the San Antonio River Walk is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
- The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum remains on track to open in late 2027.
Alamo Traffic Advisory

As construction continues in and around the Alamo, vehicle access is closed to ensure public safety and support the progress of ongoing work.
These restrictions are part of the broader effort to transform the Alamo District into a pedestrian-focused space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors in the years to come.

Losoya Street Lane and Sidewalk Closure:
We will have upcoming lane and sidewalk closures on Losoya Street to accommodate ongoing construction activities associated with the area improvements.

The lane in front of the Visit San Antonio office will remain open to allow Hyatt Garage access. The sidewalk will remain closed for the duration of the work.
Bonham and Crockett Lane Closures:

A tree will be delivered for installation in the Alamo Gardens area the morning of Tuesday, November 4. This may require partial and temporary lane closures on Bonham and Crockett Street.
