Map of Construction Work Near Alamo on August 9

Next week, the eastbound lane of Houston Street between Alamo Plaza and the Federal Post Office will close temporarily. This road closure will allow us to conduct archaeological investigations on both the exterior and interior of the north end of the Long Barrack, the oldest building in Texas. While still accessible to foot traffic, the lane is expected to be closed to vehicular traffic for four to six weeks.

The road closure will impact the eastbound lane of Houston Street, from Alamo Street to Avenue E, before the Emily Morgan. Crosswalks will remain open to pedestrians.

Vehicles can still access Houston Street westbound.
