    Learn History Where It Happened

    We are so excited to welcome school groups back to the Alamo! Reservations are now required. In order to enter Alamo Church, you will need a free timed ticket reservation for each person in your group. Please register at least two weeks in advance so we can ensure there will be capacity for your group to go inside the iconic Alamo Church.

    Explore the place where history was made for a unique day of hands-on learning! Your class will enjoy walking through the iconic Alamo Church, seeing historical artifacts, visiting with living historians, and much more. 

    To discuss your class visit and receive an Alamo Field Trip Packet, contact the Tour Program Coordinator on 210-225-1391 ext. 4005. You can also explore field trip options below and then make a reservation online.

    Alamo Discovery Tour

    On this one-hour guided tour, an experienced Alamo guide will explain the history of the mission and the fortress and create a memorable educational experience for students. This tour takes place outside, so please remember to bring water and sunscreen if needed. Price per student is $3 each for elementary school students and $7 each for junior high and high school students.

    Alamo Church and Grounds

    As always, touring the Alamo Church is free. To provide a convenient experience and reduce crowds, school groups will need to reserve their free ticket to enter the church ahead of their visit. A maximum of 100 people will be allowed inside at once and visitors will have 30 minutes to explore the inside of the church. Afterwards, visitors are free to explore the rest of the grounds as long as they like.

    Victory or Death™ Audio Tour

    Upgrade your free church tour with the Victory or Death™ Audio Tour. This 45 minute, rich audio production truly brings the story of the Alamo to life, featuring sound effects, music, and interviews with the Alamo's expert curators and historians. Available in English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. Includes entry to Alamo Exhibit. This tour can only be purchased online if you have a free timed entry ticket to the church, so be sure to first reserve your church ticket and then add an audio tour.

    Alamo Exhibit

    "The Alamo: A Story Bigger Than Texas" exhibit showcases the 300 year history of the site through highlights from the Alamo and Phil Collins Texana Collections. These are unique artifacts that students won't see anywhere else. The Alamo Exhibit is only accessible for those who have purchased an audio tour.

    Living History Encampment

    Alamo living historians conduct demonstrations of period skills and crafts throughout the day in the encampment in the Alamo Gardens. Subject matter experts in firearms, medicine, textiles, food, and more will interact with your students while reinforcing the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
