Bus Drop Off and Parking

Map of bus drop off

Field trip drop off/ pick up is on Ave. E just north of Houston Street. Stopping is not allowed on Houston Street, where moving traffic makes dropping off/ picking up students dangerous.

We do not provide parking for buses. There are two options for bus parking downtown.

1) The first option is city bus parking.  Available bus parking can be found at: https://sapark.sanantonio.gov/Parking-Locations/Bus-Parking. We recommend parking in the #1 spots. The closest #1 spots to the Alamo are the spots on Bowie Street.

2) The second option is at the Alamodome. Parking availability at the Alamodome is limited and available on a first-come first-served basis. Contact the Alamodome at (210) 207-3752 to inquire about availability.

Lunch at the Alamo

Groups may eat lunch on Plaza de Valero, a green space with plenty of shade and space to each lunch. Students can hand carry a sack lunch as long as all food and drink are kept closed during the visit. The Alamo is not able to store coolers or lunches currently, and coolers are not allowed in any historic buildings. A school representative must monitor lunches and school property at all times if left on the Plaza. Picnicking is not allowed within the Alamo walls.

Chaperones and All Adults Policy

Definition of Chaperones: Parents, caregivers, and all non-educator adults accompanying the field trip.

Definition of Educator: Teachers, administrators and school staff accompanying the student group. Educators do not count toward the total number of chaperones and adults.

Adult/Student Ratio: Student groups are asked to bring a minimum of one adult for every 10 students. Maximum number of chaperones differs by field trip option.

Payment for Chaperones and All Additional Adults: Adults cannot pay admission on-site; they must be added to the reservation. Schools are required to pay the total invoice for the group, including all adults, teachers and students. Adults/chaperones cannot pay on the day of the field trip. Field trip organizers must collect payment from all adults in advance if the school is not paying for their entry. Your deadline to update chaperone numbers is one week before your field trip.

*Payment information does not pertain to Title I schools; however, all adults must be added to the reservation. For more Tite I funding information, visit: www.thealamo.org/title-i
