Thank you for standing with us as we continue transforming and preserving one of Texas’ most cherished sites. The Alamo Plan is moving ahead across several projects, and we’re glad to bring you the latest updates.
Alamo Area Construction News - November 21
The Alamo Promenade Is Now Open!

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Alamo Trust, Inc., President and CEO Hope Andrade officially cut the ribbon Friday on the Alamo Promenade, a welcoming gateway to the Alamo grounds that features statues honoring key historical figures and shaded seating areas.
The Promenade will create a sense of arrival from Commerce Street onto the historic site by converting a traditional street into a pedestrian-friendly walkway. The statues will lead toward the nearby Briscoe Western Art Museum, creating a powerful connection between two cultural destinations.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our neighbors along the Promenade and Plaza de Valero for their patience, cooperation, and resilience during construction!
Future Alamo Plan Progress
- The Texas Cavaliers Education Center will open on March 6, 2026 - the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo.
- The Paseo del Alamo connecting the Alamo with the San Antonio River Walk is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
- Critical preservation of the Alamo Church will begin in Spring 2026.
- The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum remains on track to open in late 2027.
Alamo Traffic Advisory

As construction continues in and around the Alamo, vehicle access is closed to ensure public safety and support the progress of ongoing work.
These restrictions are part of the broader effort to transform the Alamo District into a pedestrian-focused space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors in the years to come.
