Alamo Area Construction News - January 2026

New Wayfinding Signs Installed
Based on stakeholder feedback, additional wayfinding signs have been installed along the Houston Street construction fence to help visitors find and access the safe crosswalk to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. The Alamo's team members remain proactive with offering navigation to local businesses.
This Month's Stakeholder Calls

The Alamo hosts bi-weekly video calls to keep stakeholders informed about construction and allow our neighbors to ask timely questions. This month's calls will take place on January 6 and January 20 at 4 p.m.
If you would like to be added to the recurring invitation list, please email communications@thealamo.org.
Now Underway: City Sidewalk Improvements
Starting Monday, January 5, the City of San Antonio will begin sidewalk improvement work on two blocks of Losoya Street from East Crockett Street to East Commerce Street. Work will take place six days a week and is expected to be complete, weather permitting, by the end of January.
You may direct questions or concerns to the City of San Antonio Public Works Department's project contact Andrew Boyer.
Future Alamo Plan Progress
- The Texas Cavaliers Education Center will open in March 2026.
- The Paseo del Alamo connecting the Alamo with the San Antonio River Walk is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
- Critical preservation of the Alamo Church will begin in Spring 2026.
- The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum remains on track to open in late 2027, with the final beam being added this Spring.
Alamo Traffic Advisory

As construction continues in and around the Alamo, vehicle access is closed to ensure public safety and support the progress of ongoing work.
These restrictions are part of the broader effort to transform the Alamo District into a pedestrian-focused space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors in the years to come.
New Wayfinding Map
Our Alamo Plaza Wayfinding Map provides visitors with clear and comprehensive navigation through the area. You can download a copy of the map. Physical copies can be obtained at the Alamo Welcome Center.
Letter From General Contractor
Our General Contractor, Clark Guido, who is managing many of the projects related to the Alamo Plan, has prepared a letter for the Alamo's surrounding neighbors.
This letter includes important information and points of contact should you wish to reach out directly to Clark Guido during the ongoing construction.
Safety and Accessibility
The safety of our community, visitors, and team remains our top priority. Thank you for respecting safety measures and avoiding restricted areas.
