Alamo Area Construction News - February 2026
The Texas Cavaliers Education Center: Inspiring The Next Generation

The Alamo is looking forward to opening the doors of the Texas Cavaliers Education Center this spring. Over the next month, crews will be finishing out the building, moving in furniture and exhibits, and cultivating the outdoor garden. Guests at this month's The Alamo 190 Salute fundraiser will get a sneak peek at the progress, and we look forward to sharing details of an official ribbon cutting later this spring!
This Month's Stakeholder Calls

The Alamo hosts bi-weekly video calls to keep stakeholders informed about construction and allow our neighbors to ask timely questions. This month's calls will take place on February 3 and February 17 at 4 p.m.
If you would like to be added to the recurring invitation list, please email communications@thealamo.org.
Temporary Alamo Plaza Fencing

A temporary construction fence has been placed on Alamo Plaza in preparation for an archaeological investigation associated with utility work. Visitors still have full access to Alamo Plaza, the Alamo Church, and the Mission Gate & Lunette.
The fence will be in place for several weeks, but will be removed for large public events associated with the 190th Commemoration of the Battle of the Alamo.
Now Underway: City Road Improvements
In late January, the City of San Antonio partially closed Losoya Street to resurface the roadway between East Commerce and East Houston. Work is anticipated to last two weeks. Crews plan to reopen the roadway at the end of each workday, and traffic safety officers will assist with deliveries.
You may direct questions or concerns to the City of San Antonio Public Works Department's capital projects officer Arthur Aguilar.
Future Alamo Plan Progress
- The Texas Cavaliers Education Center will open this spring.
- The Paseo del Alamo connecting the Alamo with the San Antonio River Walk is scheduled for completion by this summer.
- Critical preservation of the Alamo Church will begin later this year.
- The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum remains on track to be completed in late 2027, with the final beam being added this spring.
Alamo Traffic Advisory

As construction continues in and around the Alamo, vehicle access is closed to ensure public safety and support the progress of ongoing work.
These restrictions are part of the broader effort to transform the Alamo District into a pedestrian-focused space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors in the years to come.

Letter From General Contractor
Our General Contractor, Clark Guido, who is managing many of the projects related to the Alamo Plan, has prepared a letter for the Alamo's surrounding neighbors.
This letter includes important information and points of contact should you wish to reach out directly to Clark Guido during the ongoing construction.
Safety and Accessibility
The safety of our community, visitors, and team remains our top priority. Thank you for respecting safety measures and avoiding restricted areas.
