Thank you for standing with us as we continue transforming and preserving one of Texas’ most cherished sites. The Alamo Plan is moving ahead across several projects, and we’re glad to bring you the latest updates.
Alamo Area Construction News - December 5
he Alamo Proudly Opens New Welcome Center

This week, the Alamo debuted a new Welcome Center that will serve as a one-stop shop for visitors to choose ticket options, purchase convenience items and refreshments, and take a break from the elements.
The Welcome Center is located on the northwest corner of the historic Menger Hotel. The facility replaces the longtime red ticketing shed on Alamo Plaza and improves access for visitors entering the site from the southern end of downtown. The new storefront opens up to the Alamo's Plaza de Valero, where performances and musket firing demonstrations take place every day.
As always, visitors can plan ahead and purchase their Alamo tours and tickets online.
Future Alamo Plan Progress
- The Texas Cavaliers Education Center will open in March 2026.
- The Paseo del Alamo connecting the Alamo with the San Antonio River Walk is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
- Critical preservation of the Alamo Church will begin in Spring 2026.
- The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum remains on track to open in late 2027.
Saturday Event: Cowboy Santa Visits The Alamo

Cowboy Santa and Mrs. Claus will be greeting children tomorrow with complementary photo opportunities on Alamo Plaza. This memorable experience will take place in front of the beautiful Alamo Church on Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Alamo is offering holiday season programming in partnership with our neighbors at Old Town Trolley Tours.
Weekend Traffic Alert: San Antonio Marathon

Please be advised this weekend's San Antonio Marathon events will cause street closures near Alamo Plaza.
Route maps for the marathon, half marathon, and 5K are available online.
Alamo Traffic Advisory

As construction continues in and around the Alamo, vehicle access is closed to ensure public safety and support the progress of ongoing work.
These restrictions are part of the broader effort to transform the Alamo District into a pedestrian-focused space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors in the years to come.
New Wayfinding Map
Our Alamo Plaza Wayfinding Map provides visitors with clear and comprehensive navigation through the area. You can download a copy of the map. Physical copies can be obtained at the Alamo Welcome Center.

Our General Contractor, Clark Guido, who is managing many of the projects related to the Alamo Plan, has prepared a letter for the Alamo's surrounding neighbors.
This letter includes important information and points of contact should you wish to reach out directly to Clark Guido during the ongoing construction.
Safety and Accessibility
