Alamo Area Construction News - December 19

December 19, 2025

Thank you for standing with us as we continue transforming and preserving one of Texas’ most cherished sites. The Alamo Plan is moving ahead across several projects, and we’re glad to bring you the latest updates.

The Alamo is grateful for our neighbors and stakeholders who celebrated major milestones with us this year, from placing the final beam on the future Texas Cavaliers Education Center to the grand opening of the Alamo Promenade. We end the year with the $550 million Alamo Plan halfway complete.

Construction will continue throughout the holidays, and the Alamo will remain open its regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day except Christmas Day - the one day a year the site is closed. Alamo Plaza and Plaza de Valero will remain open to pedestrian traffic.

These construction update emails will resume on a monthly basis in 2026, with late-breaking alerts sent as needed.

Saturday Event: Holiday Movies in the Park

Celebrate the holidays with a free double feature movie night tomorrow at Plaza de Valero in front of the historic Menger Hotel. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket to enjoy "Elf" and "The Muppet Christmas Carol" on the pavilion stage's big screen, starting at 6 p.m on Saturday, December 20.

The Alamo is offering holiday season programming in partnership with our neighbors at Old Town Trolley Tours.

Starting In January: City Sidewalk Improvements

Starting Monday, January 5, the City of San Antonio will begin sidewalk improvement work on two blocks of Losoya Street from East Crockett Street to East Commerce Street. Work will take place six days a week and is expected to be complete, weather permitting, by the end of January.

You may direct questions or concerns to the City of San Antonio Public Works Department's project contact Andrew Boyer.

Alamo Traffic Advisory

As construction continues in and around the Alamo, vehicle access is closed to ensure public safety and support the progress of ongoing work.

These restrictions are part of the broader effort to transform the Alamo District into a pedestrian-focused space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors in the years to come.
