On Monday, February 24, 2025, the Alamo will officially launch the Statewide Stampede, a historic initiative calling on all Texans to support the preservation and visitor enhancement of Texas’ most iconic site. This campaign launch coincides with the grand reopening of Plaza de Valero, the newest milestone in the $550 million Alamo Plan, dedicated to restoring and improving the Alamo’s historic grounds.
The ceremony will open with a reading of Lieutenant Colonel William Barret Travis’ legendary "Victory or Death" letter by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, commemorating the 189th anniversary of Travis’ call for reinforcements during the Battle of the Alamo.
As part of the Statewide Stampede, the Alamo is issuing an official challenge to all 254 Texas counties, urging communities across the state to compete in raising the most funds per capita to support the Alamo’s preservation and visitor experience enhancements.
“The Alamo is once again calling upon the People of Texas to come to its aid, just as Travis did 189 years ago,” said Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of Alamo Trust, Inc. “Through this campaign and the county challenge, every Texan has the opportunity to be part of history and ensure that the Alamo remains a symbol of courage and sacrifice for generations to come.”
Texans can contribute by:

- Making a direct donation at any level.
