In celebration of National STEAM Month, the Alamo is proud to preview the innovative educational programming taking shape inside the soon-to-open Texas Cavaliers Education Center, featuring the Texas Capital STEAM Lab. This state-of-the-art space reflects the Alamo's growing commitment to immersive learning experiences that connect students to history through science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Thanks to a generous $250,000 contribution over four years from the Texas Capital Foundation, Texas Capital’s nonprofit entity created to expand and elevate the firm’s philanthropic giving, the STEAM Lab will serve as a dynamic hub for hands-on, cross-disciplinary activities when it opens to the public on March 6, 2026, the 190th anniversary of the historic Battle of the Alamo.

Currently, the Alamo hosts approximately 150,000 school children annually. With the opening of the Texas Cavaliers Education Center, the goal is to increase that number to 250,000 students each year, ensuring access to high-quality educational programming for learners from all backgrounds, especially Title I schools.

“Our mission is not only to preserve the past but to prepare future generations,” said Dr. Kate Rogers, President and CEO of Alamo Trust, Inc. “The Texas Capital STEAM Lab is an essential piece of that vision, helping young people connect innovation to history in meaningful and lasting ways.”

The lab will offer a wide range of interactive programming rooted in the Alamo’s 300-year story, from agricultural science during the Mission Era to preservation techniques used in modern conservation. It will also serve as a venue for school field trips, workshops, and teacher training offered through the Alamo’s Teacher Institute.

“At Texas Capital, we are honored to support the future of education in our state,” said Ricky Maldonado, Texas Capital’s San Antonio Market President. “This partnership with the Alamo reflects our shared commitment to inspiring young Texans through transformative learning experiences that tie together our rich heritage and the promise of tomorrow.”
