In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, the Alamo is excited to announce that the original, screen-used stunt bicycle from the beloved 1985 film will go on public display beginning Saturday, August 9, 2025, exactly 40 years after the movie’s debut.
The bike will be featured inside the Alamo's Ralston Family Collection Center, located directly behind the historic Alamo Church, for a limited time.
This iconic pop-culture artifact, made famous by Pee-wee Herman’s unforgettable journey and his legendary stop at the Alamo, was acquired earlier this summer. It will serve as a centerpiece in the Long Term Legacy Gallery presented by the Mays Family, inside the future Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, scheduled to open in 2027.
Visitors can view the bike during regular operating hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Ralston Family Collection Center starting August 9. This temporary exhibit offers fans a first look at the bike up close before it takes its place in the new museum's gallery, which explores the Alamo's lasting cultural impact.
Members of Friends of the Alamo are invited to a special sneak peek the evening before. A members-only viewing will be held on Friday, August 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. inside the Ralston Family Collection Center. Interested in becoming a member just in time for the sneak peek? Learn more here.
Be among the first to see this pop culture icon up close—only at the Alamo. No basement detour required.
