The Alamo is proud to host the Opening Ceremony to Celebrate America's Military to celebrate, honor and recognize active and former military and their families. Held in conjunction with the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, this impactful ceremony will mark the beginning of the annual two-week Celebrating America’s Military schedule of city-wide special events.
In years past, a proclamation designated November 1st through November 19th as Celebrate America's Military. This is the largest and longest held series of events honoring our Military Service Members, Families, and Veterans in the Nation. We will honor and highlight the role of our Active, Guard and Reserve as well as honoring those organizations who support them and specifically honor the challenges and sacrifices related to our current events in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Speakers at the ceremony will include Mayor Ron Nirenberg, former Congressman and Alamo Trust, Inc. board member Will Hurd, and United States Army North Commanding General Lieutenant General John R. Evans, Jr. The Brackenridge High School JROTC Color Guard will perform a presentation of colors during the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
