John R. Knaggs, born in 1934, is the author of three books: Kingmakers: A Novel of Political Ambition and Corruption , Two-Party Texas: The John Tower Era, 1961-1984, and The Bugles Are Silent: A Novel of the Texas Revolution From the Alamo to San Jacinto. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. While a student at UT, he served as Sports Editor for the campus newspaper the Daily Texan. Knaggs also served as a Capitol correspondent for UPI and wrote a weekly political column for the Austin American-Statesman.
