We're reaching out to share developments regarding the ongoing construction efforts at the Alamo, encompassing both the expansion of the construction footprint and alterations to vehicle and pedestrian access. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support as we continue to work on the Alamo Plan.
Expansion of Construction Footprint:
To propel the Alamo Plan and realize our collective vision for this landmark, we are expanding the construction zone within the Alamo District. This step is pivotal in achieving the success of this transformative project for downtown San Antonio.
Temporary Vehicle Access Changes:
From November 3, 2023, vehicular access will be temporarily halted on Alamo Plaza from Commerce St. to Crockett St., as well as on Crockett St. from Alamo Plaza to Losoya St. This restriction is estimated to remain in place until July 1, 2024. While we understand the inconvenience this might bring, we're confident it's essential to conduct the required construction tasks both safely and productively.
Fencing and Pedestrian Pathways:
On November 6th, fencing for the Texas Cavalier Education Center will be set up, encompassing the southern portion of the Alamo Gardens and the corridor between the Menger Hotel and the Alamo. It's crucial to note that pedestrian access between the Alamo and the Menger Hotel will be unaffected.
On November 3, 2023, fencing in the Mission Gate and Lunette, and Plaza de Valero surrounding area will also be increased.
To maintain the safety and convenience for all visitors:
- A pedestrian pathway will span North to South on Alamo Plaza, and East to West on Crockett St., bordering the western side of the Alamo District.
- On the Alamo District's eastern side, another pathway will commence from the Menger Hotel area, going North to South. This pathway, in proximity to the Menger Hotel, will connect to the Alamo Arcade, creating a direct route from Alamo Plaza to the RiverCenter Mall area.
