On July 31, 2023, access to Alamo Plz. North from Commerce St. and Crockett St. West from Alamo Plz. will be temporarily closed. The anticipated duration of this closure is five-to-six days. (Pictured above)
The ongoing potholing project at Alamo Plz. and Crockett St. holds paramount significance in facilitating the essential tasks required to finalize Plaza de Valero. The plaza will serve as the gateway to the historic site while also paying homage to the mission's original name, San Antonio de Valero.
We want to assure you that these closures have been orchestrated in collaboration with the City of San Antonio's Right of Way team, guaranteeing continuous accessibility for emergency vehicles throughout the duration of the project.
The potholing operations on Alamo Plz. and Crockett St. will initiate from the northern edge of the work zone, nearest to the Alamo, and will advance southward, away from the Alamo premises. In order to uphold safety standards throughout the construction endeavor, a fenced perimeter will be installed around the active work area. We kindly request all community members and patrons adhere to the safety guidelines and avoid entering restricted areas.
The Alamo Trust, Inc. is dedicated to keeping you informed throughout the construction process. We will be sending out weekly updates to keep you apprised of the progress and any potential impacts.
We sincerely thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this essential construction phase. Our aim is to enhance the Alamo's cultural legacy while creating a vibrant community space for all to enjoy.
