Mark began his career in 1968 at Texas Commerce Bank in Houston. In 1975, he moved back to San Antonio to join National Bancshares Corporation of Texas, where he rose to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer and Director. In 1994, he joined Texas Bancshares, Inc., a Bank Holding Company, as President and Director and Mark was also Chairman, President and Director of its wholly owned subsidiary, First National Bank of South Texas. 

Mark joined the Texas Capital Bank team in 2001 as President of the San Antonio Region. In 2009, Mark was promoted to Chairman – San Antonio Region.  In 2014, he was named Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Texas Capital Bank – serving all Texas markets. Mark’s responsibilities include; - The Builder Finance Group, one of the Bank’s largest Divisions which serves the top home builders across the nation, all Commercial Real Estate Banking activities and three of the Bank’s five Regions – Austin, Fort Worth and San Antonio. Mark remains active in various other bank initiatives and the San Antonio community.

Mark, a San Antonio native, has a long record of community service with leadership roles in numerous non-profit organizations. Mark is past President of the Alamo Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, earning the distinguished “Silver Beaver Award”, a former Director of the Alamo Endowment Board, an Officer, Director, Life Member and now Director Emeritus of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, past Director of the Downtown Rotary Club, past Director of the San Antonio Academy and a recipient of their Distinguished Alumni Award, former Board member and past Director of the YMCA, former Director of August Heart Foundation and he was recognized and interviewed on the local “Mover and Shaker” radio program. Mark is also Past Director of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and Past Chairman and Director Emeritus of the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business Advisory Council and recipient of the Texas Tech Rawls College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award.  Mark is currently a Director of the San Antonio Zoological Society, Trustee of Southwest Research Institute, a Director and past Chairman of the Texas Business Hall of Fame, a Director and past Chairman of San Antonio CAN! High School Advisory Board (a charter school for at-risk youth), a Board Trustee of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, and Board member of the Briscoe Western Art Museum.

Mark received his B.B.A. Degree in Finance/Banking from Texas Tech University, was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Mark also met his beautiful wife Carolyn, while attending Texas Tech. They are devoted parents of two children; Mark Jr. and Parker and grandparents to five wonderful grandchildren. Along with many other civic organizations, Mark continues to enjoy golfing and spending time with his family.
