Thomas Jackson, Alamo defender, was born in Missouri. He arrived in Texas July 6, 1829, where he registered for a league and labor of land in Green DeWitt’s colony on May 1, 1831. Jackson was married to Louisa Cottle, sister of Alamo defender George Washington Cottle, and was the father of three children. He participated in the Battle of Gonzales, October 2, 1835, and entered the Alamo as a lieutenant in the Gonzales Ranging Company on March 1, 1836. Jackson died in battle on March 6, 1836.
