Jackson J. Rusk, Alamo defender, was born in Ireland and was a resident of Nacogdoches, Texas. He registered in Lorenzo de Zavala's colony on September 30, 1835, but his land title was never completed. Rusk was probably one of the volunteers who accompanied James Bowie to the Alamo, where he died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
