The Alamo is proud to debut a new Welcome Center that will serve as a one-stop shop for purchasing tickets and tours.

The Welcome Center is located on the northwest corner of the historic Menger Hotel inside what was previously an ice cream shop. It provides a convenient, indoor location for the Alamo's 1.6 million visitors a year to choose ticket options, purchase convenience items and refreshments, and take a break from the elements.

The facility replaces the longtime red ticketing shed on Alamo Plaza and improves access for visitors entering the site from the southern end of downtown. The new storefront opens up to the Alamo's Plaza de Valero, where performances and musket firing demonstrations take place every day.

The Welcome Center opens for business ahead of the holiday season and Alamo Bowl, historically the busiest time of the year for the Alamo and downtown San Antonio.

"This is one more step toward creating a seamless Alamo experience," Alamo Trust, Inc., President and CEO Hope Andrade said. "The vast majority of our guests purchase tickets in person. A state-of-the-art, indoor Welcome Center will help them better understand the tours and experiences the Alamo has to offer so they can customize their visit according to their time and interests."

Next spring, the Alamo plans to open a second Welcome Center along the future Paseo del Alamo, the connection between the River Walk and the Alamo.

As always, visitors can plan ahead and purchase their Alamo tours and tickets online.
