More than 800 students representing ten schools from across Texas will have the opportunity to experience history at the very place it happened through School Day, a partnership between the Alamo and Battle of Flowers®.

Our upcoming School Day will take place Friday, March 7 - just one day after the 189th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo. Students will walk in the footprints of history, from touring the iconic Alamo Church where the last stand of the 1836 Battle took place, to viewing hundreds of artifacts from the Texas Revolution that are on display inside the Alamo Exhibit at the Ralston Family Collections Center.

The Alamo's Education Team and Living History teams, along with volunteers from Battle of Flowers®, will also host additional programming on Plaza de Valero, the Alamo's newest public space in front of the Menger Hotel. These hands-on activities will include STEAM lessons, historic games, and an Alamo Lotería trivia contest.

"Education is at the heart of everything we do at the Alamo," said Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of Alamo Trust, Inc. "The generosity of the Battle of Flowers® organization enables us to provide a full day of activities for students to engage with history in their own backyard, and learn how disciplines they use every day in STEAM-related classes intersect with our shared past."

School Day continues the Alamo's mission to inspire the next generation of Texans by bringing history to life through immersive and interactive experiences.

Media are invited to capture the excitement of School Day on Friday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with programming on Plaza de Valero beginning at 10 a.m. Media requesting parking can call Senior Director of Communications Jonathan Huhn at (210) 867-7717 or Associate Director of Public Relations Emily Baucum at (210) 669-0282.
