Frost Bank, the San Antonio-based subsidiary of Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. (NYSE: CFR) announced it has reached an agreement in principle for a major sponsorship totaling $1 million to support the redevelopment of the Alamo. The sponsorship will support the revitalization and improvement of the Alamo's historic buildings and grounds, delivering an updated experience to the 1.6 million guests visiting Texas's foremost tourist destination each year.

“Frost and the Alamo are both longstanding Texas institutions, and we’re proud to play a role in the revitalization of this site that’s so important to the state’s history,” said Frost Chairman and CEO Phil Green. “We’re excited about preserving this experience for future generations.”

“Through Frost Bank's generous partnership, we're embarking on an exciting chapter in the Alamo's history,” expressed Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of the Alamo Trust, Inc. “Frost’s support as the Official Bank of the Alamo, with its deep roots and enduring legacy in Texas, fills us with pride. It's a collaboration that truly honors our past while investing in our future. ”

In addition to Frost’s designation as the Official Bank of the Alamo, its support includes title sponsorship of the Alamo’s future online app and interactive experience, where visitors to the site will be able to use mobile devices to “see” what the grounds looked like at the time of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836.

Frost itself traces the founding of its bank back to 1868, just 32 years after the famous battle. It since has grown to become one of the largest Texas-based financial services companies, with more than 180 financial centers around the state and Texas’ largest ATM network.

Frost’s Alamo sponsorship announcement comes on the eve of Texas Independence Day and the Alamo’s 1724 Gala. It also follows announcements of other major Frost sponsorships, including last year’s deal to secure the naming rights at the Frost Bank Center as well as the Frost Plaza at the Rock at La Cantera and the Frost Club inside the Boeing Center at Port San Antonio.
