With gratitude and appreciation, the Remember the Alamo Foundation announces a collaboration with Freetail Brewing Company and Silver Eagle Beverages on the launch of Bowie Bock craft beer. Featuring a design with crossed Bowie knives in homage to iconic Alamo Defender, James Bowie, a portion of sales from each case will be donated to the Remember the Alamo Foundation.

“We are excited and grateful to be a part of this unique collaboration to support the Shrine of Texas Liberty,” said Kate Rogers, Executive Director of Alamo Trust, Inc. “The legendary story of the Bowie knife is a perfect fit for Freetail Brewing, a San Antonio-based company known for its grit and determination. When it comes to supporting the community, Freetail is as passionate as they are about creating innovative beers. We are proud to have them as allies of the Alamo.”

Created in the early 19th century, the Bowie knife gained its reputation in the hands of James Bowie near Natchez in an 1827 incident known as the Sand Bar Fight. Although shot twice and stabbed several times, Bowie was still able to fend off his attackers. The incident made both the man and the knife legends as word of the deadly struggle spread. Bowie immigrated to Texas in 1830 and died in the 1836 Battle of the Alamo, and the Bowie knife is now the official knife of the state of Texas.

“As a proud supporter of the Alamo, we are pleased to partner with Freetail in distributing Bowie Bock, benefitting the Remember the Alamo Foundation.,” said John L. Nau III, Chairman and CEO of Silver Eagle Beverages. “We’re excited for Freetail to launch their Texas-style Bock beer and being able to support the historic Alamo at the same time is a win-win.”

Remember The Alamo Foundation provides support exclusively for the Alamo and its preservation, educational outreach, and public programs. Support from community partners such as Freetail Brewing and Silver Eagle Beverages will ensure that future generations Remember the Alamo.

“We believe a brewery shouldn’t just make great beer; we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the community in which we live,” said Bill Sisoian, President of Freetail Brewing. “We are proud to partner with the Remember The Alamo Foundation. Together we continue to be a force for preservation of this global, cultural icon located in the heart of our beloved city.”

Bowie Bock will launch on Thursday, March 3 the day after Texas Independence Day and will be available in kegs at on-premise accounts statewide. Bowie Bock 6 pack cans will be available in stores starting on May 1st. Come and drink it!
