Misty Lanham is the Collections Manager at the Alamo. She is a native Texan who has worked at the Alamo for close to a decade. While attending Stephen F. Austin State University for her Masters, Misty was taught to take advantage of every opportunity she was given to work in a museum. Misty is proud to say she did just that - working in a variety of departments to learn how all of the pieces come together to help run the Alamo. Before working at the Alamo, Misty worked for the Department of Defense at an Armed Forces Recreation Center in Germany where she helped military members and their families make lifelong memories.

Experience

Collections Manager, Alamo Trust (2022-2023): Misty’s first project as Collections Manager was working on the setup of the new Ralston Family Collection Center. She oversees day-to-day care of the Alamo’s priceless collection and is currently working with other staff members as well as museum design teams to prepare for the opening of the future Alamo Visitor Center and Museum.

Director of Guest Experience, Alamo Trust (2021-2022): As the Director of Guest Experience, Misty oversaw the Alamo’s frontline staff who interact with visitors and make it an experience people will always Remember.

Social Media Coordinator, Alamo Trust (2017-2021): As the Alamo Social Media Coordinator, Misty researched and posted to the Alamo social media channels about historic events, artifacts, visitor tips, and upcoming events. Misty saw this as an opportunity to reach both potential visitors and as well as people who may never have an opportunity to visit and help them feel involved from afar.

Education Program Assistant, Alamo Trust (2016-2017): As the Education Program Assistant, Misty enjoyed helping students learn about the Alamo. Misty piloted a field trip registration system so that Alamo staff could be prepared for students’ arrival and teachers could receive resources before the trip. Through Distance Learning, Misty gave tours of the Alamo to students across the United States

Tour Guide, Alamo Trust (2015-2016): Misty began her career at the Alamo as a Tour Guide, leading visitors from across the world through the Alamo site and sharing its rich history.
