Gold Star Mother Cathy Powers’ goal is to run a total of 1,000 miles in 2019, with a portion in every state in honor of her son – USAF Senior Airman Bryce Kenneth Powers – and every Veteran, past, present and future. Bryce is now buried in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery, where she was first introduced to the Wreaths Across America (WAA) mission.
After her son’s death, Powers struggled with grief and turned to food, reaching nearly 300 lbs. One December, she found a beautiful live balsam wreath on her son's grave, along with thousands more covering other veteran headstones, and hope began to return.
Now, 140 lbs. lighter, Cathy is running in honor of ALL our nation’s Veterans and hoping to raise awareness and patriotism in each community across the country by sharing the true hope and healing she received from WAA and the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach.
You are invited to hear Cathy’s message of healing and hope, honor Texas veterans and run with her at The Alamo! Join us Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10am.
